I am a twentysomething living in the San Francisco Bay Area. I recently became a permanent resident. Yay, American dream!
I love to play adventure games. Since I mostly play old games (1995 or earlier), this often entails getting them to work on my somewhat-modern hardware first. It's a least a quarter of the fun, really. I describe some of my successes, in the hope that they can be useful to someone else. A couple of weeks from now, I'm planning on buying a MacBook Pro, i.e. one of these new Macs with Intel processors. It would be so cool to play vintage adventure games on a brand-new Mac... besides what can be done with ScummVM, of course.
I also love good food. This has led me to learn to cook, much to my mother's surprise. I've come up with a few recipes that I like and are pretty reliable, and I compile them here.
Good food doesn't come cheap, so I have to work. Over the years, I have been interested in a few academic and non-academic disciplines. In particular, I have ambitions to try and make the Web more automatically intelligible, and to write about interesting computer science topics for a general audience.
This past year, I've also taken to making stuff. I'm not particularly skilled, but I love wearing or using something I've made. And of course, good materials are even less cheap than good food...
My random page has descriptions of a few more interests of mine that I don't know enough about to post real content. Mostly I describe my involvement and give links I like.
